Wow! Never heard that either, and I've also crocheted for years. Sorry I can't help, but hope you find someone that can. You might try the knitting and crochet board at hgtv. There are lots of experienced crocheters and knitters there.

It will come up in Italian, but at the top of the page, you can select the language you want it in, and if you click on Contacts, there is an e-mail address. You might try writing to them, or even check the site to see if there is a better set of instructions.
